She Stares Back
November 6, 2018 11:00 am -January 26, 2019 4:00 pm
Location: The Fed Galleries @ KCAD
Does the artist/designer's ability to shape the worldview of future generations come with a responsibility? If so, what does that responsibility entail? The artists in this exhibition use paint, photography, illustration, and public platforms to explore the pervasive tension between power, representation, and experience. Through the mere act of speaking up, these artists disrupt the politics of visibility by creating work that empowers those whose existence is largely overlooked.
This exhibition is curated by Michele Bosak. It features the work of Sara Cwynar, Mira Dancy, Shelley Newman Stevens, Laura Callaghan, Iiu Susiraja, Lalla Essaydi, and María María Acha-Kutscher.
